Bersinergi Institute nurtures a growing network of Digital Ambassadors—youth leaders dedicated to promoting digital literacy within their communities. As part of the Social Media Literacy workshops, participants are encouraged to develop personal action plans and receive ongoing support from Bersinergi Institute to help them lead positive and responsible digital engagement efforts.
The Bersinergi Institute is an innovative organization dedicated to enhancing youth resilience against harmful online content, including hate speech, disinformation, propaganda, radicalism, and extremism. Established in 2024, the Institute has led efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of AI-generated content that contributes to disinformation and online extremism.
In its inaugural year, Bersinergi improved digital literacy and resilience among young people in six cities across West and Central Java, empowering them to become digital ambassadors within their communities. Building on this success, the Institute is now expanding its focus to include Islamic high schools, boarding schools (pesantren), and Islamic higher education institutions.
The 2025 program involves students, teachers, and regional stakeholders, including the Department of Information, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and associations of Islamic teachers and pesantren leaders. This initiative aims to identify challenges and enhance awareness of AI and digital literacy in Islamic education. Through these efforts, Bersinergi continues to lead in promoting AI literacy, countering online extremism, and fostering safer, more resilient communities.
Bersinergi Institute has been selected as one of only two winners from Indonesia under the SEAN-CSO Seed Project initiative, and the only organization awarded a project focused on developing a Risk Assessment Toolkit for online resilience. This project will help CSOs identify and mitigate risks in harnessing religious narratives for digital literacy programs. This milestone reaffirms that Bersinergi Institute is an organization recognized for its competence, professionalism, and dedication to educating young generations in digital and AI literacy. Our commitment to leveraging educational pathways—particularly within Islamic teachings—is increasingly relevant amid growing concerns about the manipulation of religious texts and narratives for radicalization and online recruitment targeting young Muslims.
This milestone proves that Bersinergi Institute is an organization with competence, professionalism, and dedication to educating young generations in media and information literacy — and in understanding how narratives, including religious and social ones, can be harnessed to promote digital ethics and resilience.
